(CBS DETROIT) Two males from the Detroit area admitted to stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of Rolex watches in a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in Missouri in January 2023 and were sentenced to federal prison.
Kordaryl Cross, 35, received a sentence of 57 months in jail on Monday, while Dajuan Marcellus, 34, received a term of 37 months in October. Both were ordered by a judge to give the jeweler $344,000.
Cross and Marcellus said authorities they intended to use a stolen car to steal Rolex watches from a jewelry store in Ellisville, Missouri.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Cross, Marcellus, and at least two other individuals stole a pickup vehicle from Brentwood, Missouri, in January 2023, and the following day, they drove to Ellisville.
Cross kept an eye on the clock as Marcellus and another individual broke inside the store and used sledgehammers to destroy glass cases.
Before Cross and Marcellus took the watches to Illinois, authorities said the trio left the stolen truck at a parking garage.
Cross entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property in September. In July, Marcellus entered a guilty plea to the same offense.
Officials said that at the time of the Missouri heist, Cross and Marcellus were on supervised release for different robbery charges in Michigan. In 2023, the two were each given 18 months in prison.
