DETROIT, Mich. (DDN) – Michigan basketball started the day on a high note, winning the Big Ten Conference tournament championship. However, their excitement was dampened when the NCAA Tournament bracket was revealed. The Wolverines secured a No. 5 seed, while Wisconsin, whom they defeated in the championship game, earned a No. 3 seed, sparking frustration among fans on social media.
Michigan finished the season with a 25-9 record, including two wins over Wisconsin. Meanwhile, the Badgers, with a 26-9 record, received a higher seeding. The Wolverines will face No. 12 UC San Diego (30-4) in the first round, while Wisconsin takes on No. 14 Montana (25-9).
Here are the reactions on social media:
Lol, Michigan gets a 5-seed because the Committee phoned in the bracket before the Big Ten Championship finished.

Michigan has 2 wins against Wisconsin & 2 wins against Purdue.
Wisconsin is a 3-seed. Purdue is a 4-seed.
Michigan has 11 Quad 1 wins. Only 3 teams in America have more. They won the Big Ten. They have no bad losses.
Being a 5-seed in Denver is an absolute joke.

UC San Diego enters the tournament with a NET ranking of 35, making Michigan’s opening matchup a Quad-1 game on a neutral site. The Wolverines, with a 12-7 record in Quad-1 games this season, face a tough challenge right from the start.
