Minnetonka Anticipates End to Gas Line Construction Disruptions as Temporary Restoration Nears Completion

The interim restoration will be finished this autumn, and permanent solutions will be available in the upcoming year for Minnetonka residents who have been navigating around the Natural Gas Line Replacements construction. Crews from contractor Q3 finished the primary installation work on October 28 and are now concentrating on interim solutions to clear the path for the winter, according to a CenterPoint Energy report.

Temporary asphalt is being placed on sidewalks to enable safe snow removal and guarantee pedestrian safety as the cold sets in. When construction conditions improve in the spring and summer of 2025, the permanent concrete restoration—which is currently at the mercy of Minnetonka’s climates—will take place. A recent bulletin on CenterPoint Energy’s website went into depth about this.

In order to prevent erosion throughout the winter, residents whose lawns have become a part of the construction landscape will have their holes backfilled with dirt and covered with straw matting. According to the CenterPoint Energy statement, “the temporary work done this fall will be replaced in 2025 by black dirt, grass seed, and biodegradable netting.”

They thanked the community for their patience during this crucial infrastructure project, while acknowledging the disruptions caused by the upgrades.
