Two individuals were fortunate to sustain only minor injuries after a small plane crash occurred in Yavapai County on Sunday morning. According toFOX 10 Phoenix, the accident involved a Cessna and took place just east of Interstate 17 near Cordes Lakes. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call around 9:30 a.m. from the passenger aboard the downed aircraft.

The plane made an emergency landing about 9 miles off I-17 near Bloody Basin Road after its engine failed. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said the plane was found halfway down a canyon, and first responders quickly secured the victims. Both the pilot and passenger were flown to a Phoenix-area hospital, where they were reported to be stable byFOX 10Phoenix and12 News.

The small plane, identified as a Cessna 172 by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), encountered its critical moments at approximately 9:40 a.m., as stated by12 News. Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies were deployed after the crash was reported and had to employ off-road vehicles to reach the site, eventually locating the aircraft near the bottom of a canyon.
