Mississippi Police Officer in High-speed Chase That Killed Three Declines to Speak With Investigators

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (DDN) – A Mississippi police officer involved in a crash that killed three people earlier this month did not talk with investigators on the site, according to the crash report.

The tragic accident occurred on January 4 in Marshall County, after a Byhalia Police officer allegedly pursued a car at high speeds outside the city limits. The suspect’s SUV collided with a pickup at St. Paul Road and Dockery Drive, culminating in a horrific accident.

According to a report released Friday, a Marshall County deputy spoke with William Langham, the Byhalia officer on the scene.

“Officer Langham did not wish to make a statement and informed me he would consult with the Police Benevolent Association (PBA),” according to the summary.

Two people were slain at the scene: Michael Crutcher, 63, of Collierville, and Jaqua Blueitt, 30, of Byhalia. Blueitt was the focus of the chase. The reasons behind Langham’s pursuit of Blueitt have not been revealed.

Angela Davis, 43, died from her injuries several days later. She was supposedly driving a truck with Crutcher as a passenger. Frankie Reid, the final victim, was still in serious condition as of the latest check.

The Byhalia Board of Aldermen placed Langham on administrative leave following the accident. His attorney stated that the officer “did not engage in anything illegal, untoward, or in violation of policy.”
