Montgomery County Calls for Nominations for 2025 “Women Making History Award”

Montgomery County has opened the floor for nominations for its 2025 “Women Making History Award,” a distinction held by the Montgomery County Commission for Women in partnership with Montgomery Women. The award spotlights women who contribute significantly to their professions and the wider community. Those interested in lauding local changemakers have until 11:59 p.m. on November 30 to submit their nominations.

This initiative, now in its fourth year, aligns with the onset of Women’s History Month in March, where honorees will be celebrated on social media. They’ll also be part of a smaller reception and panel discussion, the date of which is yet to be announced. In the past, figures such as Lt. Governor Aruna Miller and community leader Effie Macklin have been decorated with this accolade. According to a press release from the Montgomery County government, nominees are evaluated based on their contributions in areas such as social action, leadership in civic duties, and being an inspiration and a hardworking leader in their chosen fields.

There’s a slight shift in the rules this year, barring elected officials and political candidates from consideration. High school seniors and college students from Montgomery County, along with residents and individuals employed within the county borders, are however eligible for the honor. Detailed nominations are required, eschewing copied online bios in favor of original submissions of up to three paragraphs. The nomination form, which must be filled out online, can be found on

Montgomery County’s official website.

Details surrounding the award and the nomination process are available through Ijeoma Enendu at 240-773-5581.
