Morgan Hill Police Apprehend Suspect After First Homicide of the Year Shocks Community

The first homicide of the year occurred in Morgan Hill this morning after the sound of gunfire rocked the neighborhood. The Morgan Hill Police Department reports that when officers arrived at 100 Tennant Ave. at 7:11 a.m. in response to a shooting call, they discovered a male adult who had been shot.

Despite the police’ efforts to administer CPR and wound care, the man’s injuries proved deadly, and he was declared dead at the spot. Witnesses identified the offender, who was still nearby, as the authorities were still investigating the somber scene. Jesus Garcia, 30, of Morgan Hill, was taken into custody without any problems. After the incident, the police assured the public that there was no current threat to the neighborhood.

Until the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office notifies the next of kin, the deceased’s identity has not been made public. Although Detective Adrian Sapien’s investigation into the circumstances leading up to this morning’s horrific tragedy is still ongoing, the reason is still not entirely known.
