HOUSTON, Texas – Authorities have released the mugshot of Rose Marie Anderson, a 55-year-old Houston woman accused of locking her 7-year-old daughter inside a dog cage as a form of punishment. Anderson now faces two felony charges: unlawful restraint and injury to a child.
According to court documents, the disturbing incident took place on December 13, just days before Christmas. Police allege that Anderson zip-tied her daughter’s arms, duct-taped her mouth shut, and locked her inside a dog cage placed next to the family’s Christmas tree. The child was reportedly kept in the cage for several hours.
Investigators revealed that Anderson’s actions were reportedly meant to discipline her daughter for misbehaving at school. Court records further allege that Anderson would often kick the cage while her daughter was confined inside.
“This type of behavior is not only abusive but leaves lasting trauma,” said one official familiar with the case.
Anderson was arrested and is currently being held in jail on a $40,000 bond. If convicted, she could face severe penalties for her actions.
The case has drawn outrage from the community, with many expressing concern over the safety and well-being of the young girl. Child protective services are now involved to ensure the child is placed in a safe environment.
“This is heartbreaking,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. “It’s hard to imagine someone treating their own child this way.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. In the meantime, Anderson is awaiting her next court appearance, where more details about the case may be revealed.
Incidents like this serve as a sobering reminder of the importance of vigilance when it comes to child welfare. Community members are encouraged to report any signs of abuse to authorities immediately to prevent such tragedies in the future.
