SAN BERNARDINO, Cali. (DDN) – Dashcam footage recorded a motorcyclist hit by a hit-and-run driver in San Bernardino County.
The Tuesday witness of the crash was behind the wheel along the 15 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga during the morning rush.
A black Subaru vehicle ahead of him cut off suddenly and struck a motorcyclist ahead of him, and the motorcyclist skidded onto the road.
Video showed the motorcyclist getting up from the accident. The suspect didn’t stop and fled.
“The [motorcyclist] flipped and his head literally hit the floor,” the witness, who did not wish to be identified, told KTLA’s Shelby Nelson.
When the accident happened, the witness told him he believed the suspect would have stopped, but when he observed the car approaching an off-ramp, he realized a hit-and-run was occurring and that driver was not going to stop.

He immediately decided to pursue the suspect and jotted down his license plate number before he called 911.
The witness testified he wanted to arrest the suspect because the accident had personally affected him — he too had been a victim of a hit-and-run accident a few months before and was recuperating.
“I recently had back surgery because of that, so it affected my life in a very bad way,” he said. “I didn’t want that to happen to somebody else.”

A representative of the California Highway Patrol’s Rancho Cucamonga Office confirmed that a suspect driver was found by an officer within an hour of the report and was issued a statement.
CHP said the driver was not immediately arrested, but officials are weighing whether to suggest felony hit-and-run charges to the district attorney.
KTLA spoke to the injured motorcyclist. He said he was bruised, hurt, and had a tear in his hip area. The witness said to KTLA that he hopes the hit-and-run driver receives what he deserves and he wants justice.
The CHP is still investigating the incident. You can watch the video recording of the interaction in the player above.
