The least intelligent places in Nebraska for 2024, according to Saturday Night Science, are Schuyler and Lexington. Unfortunately, some areas in Nebraska have a higher percentage of people who did not complete high school.
Although the importance of attending college may be exaggerated, the reality is that not completing high school puts you at a significant disadvantage, on average. While educational attainment may not be the most accurate measure of a person’s intelligence, it does provide insight into their level of education.
We will use Saturday Night Science to find out which areas in Nebraska have the highest proportion of adults who did not complete high school.

Our recent study revealed that Nebraska has the highest average IQ of 101, making it the smartest state in the United States. However, this does not mean that some cities in Nebraska are slower than others because they lack basic education.
Don’t panic.
Some places are more intelligent than others, but that doesn’t say anything about the qualities of the people who live there. Here’s another piece of information that a real estate agent wouldn’t typically share with you.
For this ranking, we only considered cities in Nebraska with populations greater than 5,000. This left us with a total of 30 cities to rank.

Method to determine the dumbest cities in Nebraska
We understand that formal education is just one aspect of intelligence. However, not knowing the difference between they’re, their, and there can make you appear unintelligent.
So, we used Saturday Night Science to make our criteria more specific. We focused on a city’s educational opportunities and how many people in the population actually use those opportunities. Simply put, we have created these criteria to identify the least intelligent cities in Nebraska:
- % of the city’s population with less than a high school education (Age 25+)
- % of city’s population with a college degree (Age 25+)
We obtained the data from the U.S. Census 2018-2022 American Community Survey.
Our algorithm assigns a rank to each place in these categories. After analyzing all the data, here is a ranking of the cities in Nebraska from least intelligent to most intelligent.
For this ranking, we considered all cities in Nebraska that have a population of at least 5,000 residents. We have recently updated this article for the year 2024. This is the tenth time we have ranked the cities in Nebraska based on their level of intelligence.
