Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a Cape Cod motorcycle crash.

According to police, on Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m., the Falmouth Police Department and Falmouth Fire and Rescue Department responded to a serious two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on West Falmouth Highway (Route 28), just south of Braeside Road in the area commonly known as Wishing Moon Hill.

Upon arrival, officers located the motorcycle operator in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Officers immediately rendered aid until care was transferred to Falmouth Fire and Rescue

personnel. The operator of the other vehicle remained on scene and sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Both individuals were transported to Falmouth Hospital.

Tragically, the motorcycle operator, Kenneth Lavache, 65, of Hudson, later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Falmouth Hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle had pulled out from a common drive onto West Falmouth Highway and failed to yield the right of way to the oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the front driver’s side of the vehicle, resulting in the operator being ejected.

The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to assist at the scene. The Massachusetts State Police later responded and assumed jurisdiction over the crash and the ongoing investigation.
