When Margaret Peggy Preble was presumably struck by a car at high speed, her routine evening stroll on a road close to her Kentucky home became deadly.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on November 11, Preble was going for her regular stroll along Highway 42, as her husband Larry Preble was used to doing, according to WAVE, a local NBC station. He didn’t give it much thought until it was dark outside and she hadn’t come back because he was so accustomed to her routine.

He contacted her cell phone, but she didn’t pick up, he told WAVE in an interview. Using the iPhone’s Find My app, he was able to determine her whereabouts and saw that her phone was only five minutes from their house. According to him, his wife seemed to be a thousand feet away. “I thought, Oh, she’ll be home in five minutes,” he added. I waited, but she never showed up. I spotted her face down in the grass after getting into my car and gently driving up the street.

Two individuals stopped to assist Larry Preble after he conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation on his 48-year-married wife. While one of them dialed 911, the other took over Margaret’s life-saving procedures. However, Larry informed WAVE that she was already cold, even though he knew it was too late.

Emergency personnel informed Larry Preble that she had no hope when they arrived. Margaret had suffered significant lung damage and chest injuries, which he later learned about. Additionally, Preble stated that he saw pieces of acar scattered hundreds of feet along the road. Investigators thought the motorist continued to drive after striking Margaret at a high speed. They have appealed to the public for assistance in their ongoing search for the driver.

“I don’t have any feelings left for anger or hate,” Larry Preble told WAVE. Just sadness. However, I still don’t see how they could hit someone so quickly and then continue.
