New Homeowners Uncover Human Remains in Arson-Damaged Harris County House

Human remains have been found in a northeast Harris County home that had previously suffered fire damage from an arson incident. The discovery was made by the new owners as they were cleaning debris from the home, located at the 13300 block of Villagrove Drive, near the North Sam Houston Parkway and Beaumont Highway. The skeletal remains, including rib bones and a skull, came to light after two days of work when the entryway of the house was being cleared, according toabc13 report.

The previous fire, which led to the arson investigation, occurred on August 28, the house was supposed to be vacant when the fire happened but it now appears that the remains were present at the time of the fire, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, shared on X that the foreclosure was set for tenants who were spotted departing the home approximately two hours before the blaze began, as perKHOU.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is currently coordinating an investigation in tandem with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office while the Medical Examiner’s Office Anthropology Department is tasked with identifying the remains and uncovering the cause of death. Efforts are focused on locating the original renter and reviewing findings from the medical examiner to understand the situation.
