New Jersey Man is Accused of Killing His Fiancée by Stabbing Her at Home the Day After He Proposed

DDN: An individual was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing his fiancee to death inside her house in New Jersey, only one day after he proposed to her and begged her to marry him.

When Naky Trinidad’s family saw a video of her engagement posted on social media just before the New Year’s holiday, they were overjoyed from the beginning. The joy they felt, however, was quickly replaced by horror.

According to the allegations made by the prosecution, Jose Melo, who is 52 years old, was accused with stabbing the 31-year-old woman to death in her house in Elizabeth on December 30. This occurred just a few hours after Melo proposed to her.

“We’re talking to her the night before, congratulating her on Facebook for getting engaged. And when she didn’t reply, it struck a cord with us because its not like her,” Trinidad’s uncle Brian stated in a telephone interview. “We found out the next day she was taken, everyone is devastated.”

There was a time when Trinidad lived with her uncle. Currently, he is assisting in the burial of her throughout the course of the weekend.

“It’s celebrating her life, not mourning her death. She was awesome,” according to her uncle.

A daughter of Trinidad’s, one of whom will soon turn four years old, and another of whom is ten years old, were left behind.

“We would’ve told her to get away, we would’ve done what we had to do. There’s plenty of room in our home, she would’ve come here. But she never said a word – she suffered in silence,” Brian stated.

As a memorial is being constructed outside the house where Trinidad passed away, her family has established a GoFundMe campaign in order to assist in the collection of funds for Trinidad’s two daughters.
