New Orleans Fire Department Celebrates Career Advancements of Twelve Members in Promotional Ceremony

The Andrew P. Sanchez and Copelin-Byrd Multi-Service Center in the Lower Ninth Ward hosted a ceremony on Friday to promote twelve members of the New Orleans Fire Department. According to the New Orleans Fire Department, the occasion honored their promotion to roles such as District Chief, Fire Captain, and Apparatus Operator.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell was a special guest speaker at the ceremony, which was supported by the community. She congratulated and encouraged the New Orleans Fire Department members on their promotions during her speech. Five District Chiefs were promoted by the New Orleans Fire Department: Mark Porche Jr., Scott Smith, Byron Casey, Michael Sciortino Jr., and Alvin Fernandez. They have all demonstrated the courage, expertise, and leadership needed to progress in their positions and carry on giving back to the community.

Rachel Decesare, Darrell Blake, Matthew Meyers, and William Spiers were the four New Orleans Fire Department employees who received promotions to the rank of Captain. Charles Fortenberry, Aleksandr Tumanov, and Ross Flowers were also elevated to the position of Apparatus Operator. Their individual accomplishments and the department’s overall strength are reflected in these promotions.
