A New Orleans man has entered a guilty plea to multiple charges related to drug trafficking and firearms offenses. According to a

, 43-year-old Diontae Dorsey is facing a significant prison sentence after pleading guilty yesterday before U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier. Sentencing is set for February 27, 2025.

Dorsey, as reported by the indictment, was involved in a conspiracy that included selling controlled substances such as fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin. Maintaining three residences in the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, the operation also involved packaging these narcotics. Overseeing the distribution of such substances, Dorsey was convicted of possessing firearms in furtherance of his drug trafficking crimes.

Under the conviction, Dorsey faces a minimum of ten years to a possible life sentence, with a fine of up to ten million dollars, for the drug distribution conspiracy. For possessing firearms related to these activities, he confronts at least five additional years, which must run consecutively and could entail another life sentence with a possible fine of a quarter-million dollars. Furthermore, Dorsey was convicted of maintaining drug-involved premises which comes with a penalty of up to twenty years in prison and potentially half a million dollars in fines, as per

This case falls under the scope of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans lauded the collective efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Louisiana State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the New Orleans Police Department in bringing Dorsey to justice.
