A 13-year-old was arrested by the New Orleans Police Department yesterday in relation to threats against Audubon Gentilly School. The New Orleans Police Department states that the school is situated in the 4700 block of Painters Street.
During a school lockdown drill, information concerning the threats—which included written remarks and an email—came to light. Concerned about violence against the school and its students, the administration of the school quickly launched an investigation and enlisted the assistance of a school resource officer from the Third District of the New Orleans Police Department. The officer identified the suspect and took him into custody.
On one count of terrorizing, the youngster, who remained anonymous, was admitted to the youngster Justice Intervention Center. The person’s activities are considered an isolated incident and have nothing to do with other ongoing school threat investigations, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The New Orleans Police Department urges anyone with information regarding the event to get in touch with detectives in the Third District and reminds everyone that they are deemed innocent until proven guilty.
