New Study Finds the Loneliest City in Colorado

In Colorado, there are many ways to meet new people. First of all, the dating scene here is considered to be very good compared to the rest of the country. It is a wonderful place for single people to find their perfect partner.

However, it doesn’t mean that every place has the same opportunities. It is generally easier to find a date in major cities, but singles in Eastern Colorado often struggle because there are more people of one gender than the other.

But it’s different to be single. Feeling lonely is a completely different experience. 24/7 Wall St. did a study to find the loneliest city in each state and discovered one place that was particularly notable.

Pueblo Ranks as the Loneliest City in Colorado

The study examined various factors to determine that Pueblo was the loneliest city in Colorado. The researchers examined households with only one person, households with only one person who is over 65 years old, adults who live alone out of the total adult population, the amount of money people pay for rent each month, the percentage of people who have a bachelor’s degree, and the median income of households.

In Pueblo, 32.4% of households consist of only one person, which is equivalent to a total of 22,012 households. The percentage of people over 65 years old living alone in 1-person households is 14.4%. The percentage of adults living alone in Pueblo is 16.7%, which is considered to be a reasonable number. According to the study, it ranks 88th out of 385 metro areas. Good news! The cost of rent in Pueblo is a bit lower than the average in the rest of the country, at $1,011. It is ranked 216th out of 385.

Now, let’s examine some numbers that appear to be illogical in relation to this study, to be frank. In Pueblo, 23.8% of people have a bachelor’s degree. This puts Pueblo at 305th out of 385 in terms of bachelor’s degree attainment. The median household income is also lower, at $58,723. That means it ranks 305th out of 385 metro areas.

These two criteria, monthly rent included, are more unusual than the others because they don’t appear to be relevant to the overall study of calculating loneliness.

While Pueblo is Colorado’s Loneliest City, It Does Not Make the Top 50

This is great news for the people of Pueblo. Actually, it means you are not as lonely as you think. Washington DC is considered the loneliest city in America because almost half of its households consist of only one person. Additionally, 23% of these one-person households are occupied by individuals over the age of 65.

But what really concerns DC is the number of adults who live alone compared to the total adult population. The percentage is 24%, which is the highest among all the metro areas in the country.
