Newborn reunited with parents after carjacking abduction in Detroit
A newborn baby was reunited with his parents after a man shot her and stole her car with the baby on the east side of Detroit on Saturday night, police said.
A 35-year-old man, whom police said was known to his parents, kidnapped him when he ambushed his mother and father.
The 28-year-old man and 29-year-old woman sat in a silver Buick Lucerne with their 2-month-old in the back seat on the 9300 block of East Jefferson.
At around 10 p.m., a man with a pistol approached the couple’s car on foot. The mother and father jumped out of the car and the mother exchanged shots with the suspect, officials said.
The suspect then got into the couple’s car and went to McClellan with the baby, police said.
Less than an hour later, Detroit police found the baby and car in an alley near Crane and Canfield. The officers located the suspect on the 1000 block of Holcomb and took him into custody.
