No Injuries as Train Derails in Goodlettsville; Quick Repairs Underway

On Friday morning, a train disaster forced local emergency services to respond immediately, causing a sudden interruption in Goodlettsville. When Goodlettsville Fire Department crews got at the incident at Long Hollow Pike at 8:15 a.m., they discovered several coal cars off the lines, according to WSMV. The Goodlettsville Fire Chief claims that a “unknown mechanical malfunction” caused the southbound empty cars to derail, dragging them for about two miles before the train stopped.

Except for the evident disturbance to CSX train operations, there were no reported injuries in the incident, which apparently did not result in any traffic disruptions. The derailment began two miles from the track’s last stop, according to a Facebook post from the City of Goodlettsville Fire Department and the City of Goodlettsville TN Government. The city assured locals that the issue is completely under control and stated that no public safety concerns have been expressed.

According to the city, officials estimate that the required track repairs could take up to 30 hours. The repair work is being handled by R.J. Corman Railroad Group, which is helping to expedite the response. “All three cars are standing upright,” CSX noted in a statement that WKRN posted. There have been no reports of injuries, and the environment is not in danger.

Due to the derailment, local businesses and city officials are working together to expedite repairs. The damaged vehicles will be lifted by a crane, and CSX will rebuild the tracks in collaboration with a nearby business. CSX’s railroad traffic is suspended while they deal with the mechanical failure and the necessary significant repair work, while local road traffic is unaffected.
