No-passing Zone Accident on Us 158 Leaves One Dead, Deputies Injured, and Cars Flipped

DDN – A crash on US 158 killed one person and injured two deputies from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a crash on US 158 at Brinkley Road.

Troopers reported that a 2013 Hyundai attempted to pass an eastbound vehicle in a no-passing zone. It swerved to avoid oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle.

The Hyundai then drove left of center, colliding with a Forsyth County deputy patrol vehicle head-on.

According to officials, the Hyundai collided with another automobile behind the patrol vehicle before flipping twice.

The driver of the Hyundai, 31-year-old Stanley Shelton, died of his injuries at the site.

All other people involved in the collision suffered minor injuries.

The Forsyth County Fire Division, Walkertown Fire Department, and Belews Creek Fire Department all aided with the crash.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating.
