No Serious Injuries After Bastrop ISD School Bus Collides With Truck in Cedar Creek

According to CBS Austin, a Bastrop ISD school bus transporting pupils collided with a pickup vehicle early on Friday morning at the junction of Highway 71 and Blue Flame Road in Cedar Creek. Around 7 a.m., the school bus was traveling west on the highway when the GMC pickup truck collided with the right rear side of the vehicle.

When the school bus struck an electrical pole, Bluebonnet Electrical Cooperative stepped in and turned off the electricity to the damaged pole. The FOX 7 Austin broadcast states that 11 pupils and one adult were later admitted to the hospital due to “non-incapacitating injuries.” Drivers have been urged by DPS to minimize distractions and remain alert due to the constantly shifting road conditions.

Emergency professionals evaluated the crash’s impact and concluded that the majority of students could be safely evacuated to their campus. Bastrop ISD later confirmed that the district personnel and the principal were available to provide support to kids and families during this period. The Texas Department of Public Safety, which is looking into what caused the collision, thanked law officers and first responders for acting quickly.

The community’s support was acknowledged, and Bastrop ISD expressed gratitude for the flood of support and concern following the disaster. The Texas Department of Public Safety repeated the school district’s communications, which emphasize the value of road safety and paying attention when driving, while the collision is still being investigated.
