MORGAN COUNTY, Ga (DDN) – Two Morgan County Middle School students were killed in an ATV accident on Monday, according to officials.
The Georgia State Patrol said troopers responded to the incident on Old Buckhead Road shortly after 5 p.m. GSP said that three young boys were involved in the crash.
According to GSP’s early investigation, a Polaris UTV was driving south on Old Buckhead Road when it collided with the front of a lowboy trailer parked in a private driveway.
According to GSP, two 12-year-olds were killed, one in the driver’s seat and one in the front passenger’s seat, while another 12-year-old was injured in the rear passenger seat. Morgan County Charter Schools expressed their condolences for the youngsters’ deaths in a devastating social media message following the unfortunate event.
“There are no words that can ease the sorrow and sadness we feel right now,” the charter school system wrote in the article. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these exceptional young men.”
Morgan County Charter Schools stated that it is giving additional assistance and resources. Counselors will be present at Morgan County Middle School to assist students, faculty, families, and the community.
“We know there will be tough days ahead for Morgan County, but together we will help each other as a ‘One Morgan’ family,” the district’s educational institution said.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office also expressed condolences to the boys’ families and the community.
“This is a terrible occurrence that has upended our small town. Our hearts go out to their loved ones as they deal with this unimaginable tragedy. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, and we will assist them in any way we can,” the sheriff’s office stated.
