New York’s Staten Island. According to authorities, a 16-year-old boy was shot many times in New Brighton on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information said that police are looking into the incident, which occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. at York Avenue and Pauw Street and involved the youngster being struck in the back, one arm, and both legs.

According to the spokeswoman, EMS transported him to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton in a stable condition.

The gunman, who police say fled the scene on Prospect Avenue near Jersey Street in an unidentified direction, has not been apprehended and has not yet been described.

Pauw Street was sealed off by a sizable contingent of police officers on Thursday night, and detectives were observed scouting the neighborhood.
