On Sunday, the Oakland Fire Department responded to a significant two-alarm residential structure fire near 24th Ave and E17th St. Battalion Chief James Bowron detailed that the blaze threatened multiple homes. Yet, due to the quick action of 45 firefighters from 1st and 2nd alarm crews, significant damage to adjacent multi-unit buildings was averted.
