A woman is accused of robbing a Fall River CVS and then assaulting the store’s staff.

According to police, on Monday, Patrol Bureau officers responded to a report of an active shoplifting and assault incident at CVS on William S. Canning Blvd.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a female, later identified as 29-year-old Shyann Lynn Dias, being restrained by an off-duty officer. Dias resisted arrest but was eventually secured and placed in a cruiser. A search of her belongings revealed suspected narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and other items commonly associated with drug use.

Employees reported witnessing Dias conceal items in her personal bag while in the store. When she was confronted, she began to assault staff. The store staff yelled out for help and caught the attention of an off-duty FRPD officer who then intervened to restrain Dias. During the encounter, Dias punched and kicked the staff members and the off-duty officer.

Dias was charged with Unarmed Robbery, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery, Possession of Class B Substance, and Possession of Class E Substance.

At Tuesday’s arraignment, Dias pled not guilty and was issued $500 cash bail.
