LAS VEGAS, Nev (DDN) – Las Vegas police released fresh information and video depicting the moment an off-duty officer fatally shot a man fighting a woman.
Officials said the incident happened near Boulder City High School on Friday, Jan. 24, outside the home of an off-duty officer and his wife.
LVMPD said that around 9:16 a.m., Boulder City Police got a 911 call with an open line and arguing in the background. A woman’s voice then indicated that her husband was in their front yard, armed with a rifle.
Shots were fired shortly thereafter.
The off-duty police was later identified as Cesar Ibarra, 48.
Officer Ibarra witnessed a man attacking a woman. He was later recognized as 45-year-old Jeremiah Boshard. Ibarra introduced himself to the subject as a Las Vegas police officer.
Screaming and dog barking may be heard on video surveillance. In another video obtained by Metro, Boshard can be seen punching a woman repeatedly.
The woman sustained scratches and bruises on her lips, swelling on her head, and strangulation marks around her neck.
According to police, Boshard followed the officer to the front yard, where he saw his wife and the girl.
Boshard slammed his head into a car, prompting Officer Ibarra’s wife to draw a pistol. Boshard began choking Ibarra, but the cop was able to release himself and draw his handgun.
In a cell phone video caught by someone strolling by, the couple can be heard urging Boshard to stand back. Boshard advanced toward the group, and the pair discharged their weapons.
LVMPD reports two bullets were fired.
According to authorities, if Boshard had survived, he would have faced accusations of murder and battery on a protected person.
According to officials, when officer Ibarra was off duty, he identified himself as law enforcement and acted accordingly. This caused Metro to look into the event as a police shooting.
This is the first officer-involved shooting of 2025.
