After cops responded to a welfare check at a nearby CVS Pharmacy yesterday afternoon, an officer-involved shooting occurred in downtown Indianapolis. After receiving a complaint of an unresponsive male inside a car parked at the establishment, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) reportedly responded on the scene at 1545 North Meridian Street, according to WRTV.
When the man returned to his car with the driver-side door still open after speaking with the authorities, the scene became more heated. According to a WTHR article, “At that point, the suspect reversed the vehicle, pinning the officer in between the vehicle and the wall, striking the officer with the driver side door,” said IMPD Deputy Chief Michael Wolley.
The motorist was shot in the arm by an officer who brought out their gun during the argument, according to the IMPD. Both the driver and the officer were sent to nearby hospitals as a result of the incident; IMPD Chief Chris Bailey said viaWRTV that the driver was in stable condition and that the officer, who had no broken bones or serious injuries, was later released in good health.
