Ohio Offers $20 Rideshare Credits to Promote Safe Travel During Holiday Season and Ohio State-Michigan Game

The Ohio Transportation Safety Office (OTSO) launched a program that gives Ohioans a $20 ridesharing credit in an effort to improve road safety over the approaching holiday season. With the help of a grant from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) and the well-known ridesharing service Lyft, this program aims to reduce drunk driving during periods of high celebration.

On November 26, as Ohio State prepares to play Michigan in Columbus, the project will begin. The neighborhood crowd frequently engages in boisterous celebrations. The Ohio Transportation Safety Office recently issued a news release stating that “OTSO wants drivers to plan for all celebrations with safety in mind.” Even if the celebrations are intense, OTSO stresses the significance of choosing responsible modes of transportation.

Ohioans can visit the state’s transportation website to redeem the offer and receive the credit. According to the OTSO, the code for these credits will activate on November 25. “Drivers can claim a rideshare credit as an alternative to driving impaired by alcohol or drugs,” according to a news release from the Ohio Transportation Safety Office (OTSO).

There’s a catch, though. There will only be a certain quantity of credits available every day, and they are not limitless. Although it is advisable to grab the codes in advance, they are anticipated to be available throughout the holiday weekend and will stretch to meet the needs of individuals attending the game. OTSO’s website has instructions for claiming the credits, advising Ohioans to launch the Lyft app and choose “Payment” from the menu in the upper left corner.
