Oklahoma City Calls on Residents to Participate in Infrastructure Planning for Upcoming 2025 GO Bond Election

Residents of Oklahoma City are being called upon to shape the future of their city’s infrastructure. The City is preparing for a vital General Obligation (GO) bond election in 2025 and is actively seeking public opinion on which projects should be funded. To facilitate this, two workshops have been scheduled where community members can engage directly with city staff to discuss their views.

The first workshop will be held at the Pete White Health and Wellness Center on November 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The next will take place a week later on November 19 at the same time, but with the program running from 5:30 to 6, followed by the come-and-go session until 7:30 p.m., hosted inside the Tom & Brenda McDaniel University Center at Oklahoma City University. Each sessions are designed to make it easy for residents to stop by after work and have their say in the city’s planning process, as per

GO bonds serve as the city’s primary mechanism for financing significant infrastructure undertakings. These range from developing roads and bridges to erecting new parks and facilities for police and fire services, as well as enhancing sidewalks and other public spaces. With a history preceding statehood, GO bond projects form the backbone of Oklahoma City’s efforts to maintain and upgrade its essential municipal structures.

According to the city’s methods for selecting projects for bond funding, a combination of factors are considered including infrastructure ratings, planning studies, priorities of the City Council, potential operational impacts, and results from resident surveys. It’s a process that ensures the diverse needs of a growing urban population are addressed, right down to the very streets and bridges that connect its people.
