Oklahoma City Celebrates Ten Companies as Veteran Employer Champions for Supporting Veterans in the Workforce

Ten area companies have been named Veteran Employer Champions by Oklahoma City in recognition of their efforts to help veterans find employment. According to the City of Oklahoma, this distinction is a part of an effort to make the city a veteran-friendly business environment. It was announced by the Oklahoma City Council in collaboration with the Community Service Council and the Oklahoma Veteran Alliance.

Arvest Bank, BOK Financial, and Cox Communications are among the local companies that have received recognition for their efforts to establish workplaces that are welcoming to veterans. “We honor and recognize the organizations within our city that are dedicated to creating a supportive workplace for our veterans,” said Mayor David Holt, underscoring the significance of these employment opportunities. Their dedication guarantees that Oklahoma City veterans feel appreciated and empowered. According to the City of Oklahoma, these businesses are serving as a model for the rest of the community.

In order to assist veterans in transitioning into civilian professions, organizations that achieve seven essential criteria—such as aggressive veteran recruitment, customized onboarding, and community involvement—are granted the title of Veteran Employer Champion. The program encourages the establishment of veteran-ready organizations with more than 26,000 workers in 32 industries. “All of these employers have shown their commitment to making their organizations Veteran Ready,” stated Rachel Runfola, CEO of Oklahoma Veterans United. They have established a culture that fosters success for Veteran employees and their families. According to the City of Oklahoma, Mark Morgan, Executive Community Liaison for CSC’s Oklahoma Veteran Connections, encourages new businesses to join the network.
