Oklahoma City Opens Outreach Offices to Support Tornado Recovery Efforts

In a move to provide aid to those affected by the recent tornadoes, Oklahoma City is setting up two outreach offices this week to guide residents through the maze of social services and rebuilding information they now face. The offices, located at Harmony Christian Church and Windwood Free Will Baptist Church, will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and Friday, according to the city’s announcement.

EMBARK is stepping in to provide free transportation from the communities devastated by the tornadoes to these hubs of hope, offering access to essential information on fencing, demolition, building permits; contractor resources; debris removal, updates from Utilities, and an array of other services including crucial ones from OG&E, the Oklahoma Insurance Department, the Attorney General’s Office, and the Oklahoma City-County Health Department also residents who need it most will get much-needed assistance from Social Services.

The outreach comes in the wake of tornadoes that struck on Sunday, leaving a trail of destruction with approximately 50 buildings in Oklahoma City destroyed, 57 buildings with significant damage, and 71 with minor damage. “Our priority is to help Oklahoma City residents connect with services and get back into a home. The easier we can make the recovery process for our residents the better,” Mayor David Holt stated, as noted by the City of Oklahoma City’s official website.
