Broken Arrow Representative Stan May was chosen to a second term as the Caucus Chair. Rep. Josh Cantrell of Kingston has been selected as the Caucus Secretary, and Rep. Nick Archer of Elk City will be the Vice Chair. The Oklahoma House of Representatives has announced these new positions for the next legislative session.
May was cited as stating, “I am honored to have been elected by my colleagues to serve for a second term.” May was previously the vice chair of the House Appropriations & Budget Subcommittee on Judiciary. According to the Oklahoma House of Representatives, his top priorities for the next term are public safety, educational advancement, and economic development.
“I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve the House Republican Caucus, my district and the people of Oklahoma,” Archer, who is in his second term as a lawmaker following a stint as mayor, stated, emphasizing his intention to defend conservative principles. “I appreciate the trust placed in me to serve in this role,” said Cantrell, leaving his post as Marshall County Commissioner, as he gets ready to apply his knowledge to his new duty. Former Secretary Rep. Sherrie Conley and former Vice Chair Rep. Danny Williams are no longer in charge. According to the Oklahoma House of lawmakers, the newly sworn-in state lawmakers are getting ready for the Organizational Day on January 7, 2025, with the first session set for February 3.
