One Dead in Single-Vehicle Crash on Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua, Power Pole Involved

NASHUA, NH (DDN) – On Sunday, one individual died in a single-vehicle incident involving a power pole on Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua.

Nashua Fire Rescue, police, and an AMR ambulance went to a complaint of a car colliding with a pole with live wires down around 235 D.W. Highway shortly before 10:30 a.m. Police closed the northbound lanes of the highway at Spit Brook Road, as firefighters attempted to reach the person in the severely damaged vehicle.

Several transformers and dangerous wires on the car prohibited firemen from reaching the area. Eversource was advised of the priority reaction to the scene.

Due to the severity of the injuries, a MedFlight chopper was dispatched to the scene of the event and landed to await the patient’s extraction. MedFlight landed around 10:50 a.m.

At about 11:25 a.m., power was restored, allowing firefighters and AMR staff to approach the patient. Following an examination, the patient was confirmed dead on the scene, and MedFlight was returned to service.

DW Highway is currently closed and is anticipated to remain so for several hours as technicians attempt to repair the downed power lines and broken utility pole as police investigate the collision.

At this point, it appears that only one passenger was in the vehicle, and for unclear reasons, the vehicle appeared to cross the median from southbound to northbound.

The car was a Ford Bronco with Massachusetts plates; no information on the victim has been given at this time.
