One Dead, One Critically Injured in Escambia County Crash After Pickup Hits Tree and Overturns

DDN – A collision involving a single car that occurred this morning in Escambia County resulted in the death of an 83-year-old man from Brewton, according to a press statement issued by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Additionally, his passenger, a Brewton woman who was 62 years old, sustained life-threatening injuries. They did not have their names made public.

The announcement states that the collision took place on United States Highway 29 at approximately six in the morning.

A pickup vehicle driven by the two individuals was going south on United States Highway 29 approximately one mile north of Champion Drive when it crossed the median into the northbound lanes and went off the roadway on the east shoulder.

According to the announcement, the part of the car that was facing the driver was involved in a collision with a tree, during which it flipped over and eventually came to rest on its passenger side.
