ST. LOUIS (DDN) – A Sunday afternoon crash in Washington County killed one person and badly injured two others, according to officials.
The crash occurred around 12:45 p.m. near a Dollar General in Richwoods, Missouri, at the intersection of State Highway 47 and State Road H.
Police reported that two automobiles were involved. One of the vehicles failed to stop at a four-way intersection.
“One vehicle failed to yield (and collided with another vehicle). According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Andrew Gadberry, one of the automobiles was pushed into and struck a parked car before colliding with a dwelling.
Firefighters, paramedics, and highway patrol troopers all responded to the site.
The crash destroyed the house’s exterior and foundation, leaving the family inside without running water. There were no injuries inside the home.
The family who lives inside the house claims they had witnessed at least three crashes at the same crossing in the last year.
Gadberry stated that such crashes are far too common.
“Speeding, DWI, and distracted driving are the three most common causes of collisions in Missouri. I’m unsure if this crash involved any of those since we haven’t received that information yet,” Gadberry added.
Two more people who were inside the cars involved in the accident were transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
