One Killed, One Critically Injured in I-26 Wrong-way Collision Near Weaverville, NC

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (DDN) – According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, one person was killed and one was critically injured in a crash in Buncombe County.

According to troopers, it occurred on Interstate 26 near Weaverville around 3:27 p.m. Monday.

According to authorities, a driver was going west on I-26 in the eastbound lanes at Exit 15 when he collided with another car.

According to troopers, the wrong-way driver was killed in the incident.

Troopers reported that the driver of the second vehicle was transferred to Mission Hospital with critical injuries.

The names of the two people involved in the accident have not been revealed.

According to troopers, the crash is still under investigation.
