Oregon Highway 26 Wreck Leaves 79-Year-Old Dead, Closes Road for Hours in Clackamas County

PORTLAND, Ore. (DDN) – According to authorities, a three-vehicle incident that occurred over the weekend in Clackamas County resulted in the death of one man and left one lady with significant injuries.

On Sunday, the Oregon State Police said that they had reacted to the incident that occurred on Highway 26 close to Haley Road. Following an inquiry, it was found that four people were involved, and two of them left the scene without any injuries.

Officials stated that Richard Allan Kerron, 79, of Boring, died in the crash. He was driving a silver GMC Envoy, and Erlita Jean Kerron, who is 82 years old, was in the passenger seat. Erlita was brought to a nearby hospital since she had major injuries.

According to officials, the GMC Envoy was headed south on Haley Road when it started to enter the intersection of Highway 26 just before the incident occurred.

The GMC drove in front of a gold Toyota Camry, which was being driven by Derek Lorenz, 33, of Sandy, who was headed eastbound on Highway 26. The GMC and Toyota Camry collided, causing the GMC to turn on its top and crash into a gold Toyota Solara piloted by Austin Christopher Moore (19) of Salem,” OSP said in a press release.

Neither Lorenz nor Moore sustained any injuries.

According to officials, the portion of roadway was affected for around four hours while the investigation was being carried out after the incident occurred.
