In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in Orlando, U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron has sentenced 35-year-old George Pherai-Bogeajis to a prison term of 19 years and 7 months for his role in a drug distribution network heavily involved in methamphetamine and fentanyl trade. The sentencing culminates from Pherai-Bogeajis’s guilty plea back on June 18, acknowledging his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession of firearms in support of his illicit operations, as detailed by the

The charges detailed in court documents highlight a years-long engagement in drug transactions at the kilogram level by Pherai-Bogeajis. In one of the incidents leading to his arrest, law enforcement officers intercepted a co-conspirator in March 2024, shortly after leaving Pherai-Bogeajis’s residence, discovering the individual was carrying $149,785 believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Further, a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) search of Pherai-Bogeajis’s home on April 9 uncovered a substantial hoard of illegal substances, including 48.9 kilograms of methamphetamine, over 5,500 grams of MDMA, more than 2 kilograms of cocaine, 978 grams of fentanyl, as well as marijuana, oxycodone pills, and four firearms. Aside from these findings, an additional search in Ocoee turned up more drugs and two vehicles equipped with hidden compartments used for transporting drugs and cash. The total cash seized amounted to $717,480.

The multi-agency operation probing Pherai-Bogeajis’s activities involved the DEA, IRS – Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, the Ocoee Police Department, Orlando Police Department, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. The case’s prosecution fell to Assistant United States Attorney Dana E. Hill, ensuring that apart from the prison sentence, the court ordered the forfeiture of four vehicles and four firearms used in the offense, along with $867,265 in drug proceeds.
