An individual was shot on Christmas Eve in Oxford, Michigan, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of two others, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, which announced on Wednesday.

There was a “major incident” on Ray Road between Lapeer and North Oxford roads, according to the sheriff’s office, which reported that the communication center received an alert regarding the situation. It is strongly recommended that individuals stay away from the area until further notice.

According to the sheriff’s office, responding deputies discovered three people injured as a result of some kind of gunfire. It is anticipated that the two other victims will be able to live, according to the sheriff’s office.

North of Oxford High School is where the shooting took place, and according to the sheriff’s office, it looks to have been a random situation.

“At this point, it appears that the terrible events of last night were completely random with the suspect just passing through the community when he went off on a violent spree at multiple locations,” the sheriff’s office stated in a statement posted on social media.

“He is a convicted felon with multiple past weapons offenses and we intend to seek every possible charge against him.”
