Pawtucket Police release update after man injured in officer-involved shooting

Police are investigating a weekend officer-involved shooting in Rhode Island.

According to police, at just before 10:30 this morning, Pawtucket Police were dispatched to the vicinity of Broad at Goff for a report of a man with a gun pointing it at himself and others. A Pawtucket Police officer engaged the individual and shots were fired by the officer.

The man was rendered aid on scene by officers and subsequently taken to an area hospital by Pawtucket Rescue for a non-life-threatening injury to his shoulder.

In accordance with the Rhode Island State Protocol, representatives from the Attorney General’s Office along with the Rhode Island State Police and Pawtucket Police Detectives are investigating.

The officer has been placed on administrative leave.
