The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the completion of the Lurgan Road Bridge replacement in Upper Makefield Township, a nod to infrastructure progress in the region. PennDOT’s efforts saw the century-old bridge, which has been a fixture over the Branch of Pidcock Creek, replaced by a modern concrete box culvert.
Asreported by PennDOT, the bridge handled an average of 971 vehicles daily before the renovation. This project is part of a larger $7,987,000 initiative targeting, seven structures across Bucks and Montgomery counties. A similarly upgraded structure, the Ashbourne Road bridge over the Branch of Tookany Creek in Cheltenham Township, has also reached completion.
Additional culverts are slated for replacement within the ambit of the same project. These are located on Souderton Road, Wismer Road, Allentown Road, Black Rock Road, and Linfield Road, each spanning various tributaries and creeks within Bucks and Montgomery counties. Loftus Construction, Inc., based out of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, assumes the mantle of the general contractor for this extensive undertaking.
With a focus on keeping the public informed and moving, PennDOT suggests using the 511PA service for real-time road information. The utility offers a plethora of features like traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, and access to traffic cameras. Available digitally through a website or smartphone application, 511PA ensures that locals in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties can steer clear of potential delays or hazards.
Comprehensive lists on traffic impacts and construction projects are available through PennDOT’s District 6 traffic bulletin, with an emphasis on fostering transparency and foresight among motorists.
