Pennsylvania Man Seriously Injured After Ice Sheet Strikes His Windshield on I-83, Family Urges Caution

YORK CO (DDN) – A Pennsylvania man suffered serious facial injuries when a sheet of ice blew from a vehicle and smashed his windshield.

Brandon Henry, 24, of York County, was traveling southbound on Interstate 83 near Route 30 Wednesday night around 7:30 p.m.

He was on his way to his girlfriend’s place when he claimed a sheet of ice flew off a northbound truck and smashed through his windshield.

It struck him right in the face.

“It struck him straight in the face, into his face, and pushed him with such force that his seat completely back,” Brandon’s father, Paul Hennel, explained.

According to the family, the truck kept going, and the driver may have no idea what happened.

Brandon is admitted to a trauma intensive care unit. Now he has a long road to recovery. Paul believes that the disaster may have been avoided if the ice had been removed from the truck.

“Our primary focus right now is to make our youngster well. However, make use of this chance to tell the public that you would never want this to happen to your son or daughter, or anybody else you care about. “It could have been avoided,” Paul explained.

The father advises that if you witness a risky condition on the road with snow or ice on a car, notify it.

“I would say be aware of the cars and trucks around you,” Paul told us.

Hennel is scheduled to have several procedures.
