Peoria Partners with Prostate On-Site Project for Accessible Cancer Screenings on December 4

In a collaborative effort to enhance public health, the City of Peoria has teamed up with Prostate On-Site Project to offer prostate cancer screenings at two separate locations on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. These potentially life-saving screenings are slated for early risers at the Peoria Municipal Operations Center, 8850 N. 79th Avenue, with doors opening from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Those with later schedules can access services at the Public Safety Administration Building, 8351 W. Cinnabar Avenue, between the more convenient hours of 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

A number of major insurers are accepted at this event, including AETNA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, HealthNet, Humana, and United Health Care. Participants with insurance should be prepared for the possibility of Specialist Co-pay, Co-Insurance, or Deductible fees to apply. For individuals without insurance, a reasonable flat fee of $86 has been set. However, it’s noteworthy that Medicare will not be accepted during these screenings.

The importance of regular prostate screenings cannot be overstressed given the silent but potentially aggressive nature of prostate cancer. Early detection affords a higher chance of successful treatment, which is why events such as this bear significant importance in public health initiatives. To secure a spot for this opportunity, appointments can be made by calling 480-964-3013 or the toll-free number 1-800-828-6139.
