Philadelphia Faces Week of Rain and Winds, NWS Predicts Unsteady Conditions into Thanksgiving Week

With the National Weather Service forecasting a string of rainy conditions beginning tonight and continuing through the end of the week, Philadelphia is preparing for a period of bad weather. According to the National Weather Service forecast, residents should anticipate significant rainfall before five in the morning, with the possibility of accumulating three quarters to one inch of additional precipitation.

With a 30% chance of showers on Thursday, mostly cloudy skies, and high winds of up to 25 mph, the weather is expected to stay gloomy. The NWS predicts that new precipitation amounts could be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, but tonight the odds of rain increase slightly to 40% even though the temperature drops to about 37 degrees.

The forecast for Friday isn’t much better, with a 70% chance of showers; cloudy skies and blustery conditions, with southwest winds reaching 15 mph and gusts of up to 25 mph. The NWS says that “new precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible” are possible.

Though the NWS forecast indicates that Saturday will be partly sunny with a high of about 52 degrees, the weather will remain unstable, with the possibility of showers returning before Saturday night ends. With highs in the 50s, it’s difficult not to hope for clearer skies as we approach Thanksgiving week. While Monday and Tuesday are expected to be generally cloudy, with highs around 60 degrees, Sunday night’s forecast suggests partly cloudy conditions with a low of about 37.
