Philadelphia police have released the identity of a man killed in an officer-involved shooting following an alleged carjacking and pursuit in West Philadelphia. The deceased, identified as 47-year-old Jonathan Corbin, was reportedly involved in a domestic incident before the carjacking, which led to a police chase and his subsequent death.
The ordeal began on Sunday evening when a woman reported a domestic disturbance involving Corbin, who allegedly fired a gun inside a home along the 5400 block of Chancellor Street. According to reports from

, Corbin then proceeded to take a vehicle at gunpoint forcefully. During the confrontation, he attempted but failed to fire his weapon. Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore was quoted saying the gun did not discharge when Corbin pointed it at the victims.
After law enforcement arrived, Corbin pointed his weapon at officers and fled in the black pickup truck he had carjacked.

reported that a 25-year-old officer, a 29-year-old officer, and a 34-year-old sergeant, all with the 18th District, were involved in the chase. The pursuit ended near 52nd Street and Woodland Avenue, where Corbin, still armed, reportedly fled on foot before being shot by officers.
