Philadelphia Organizations Gear Up for Thanksgiving Giveaways with Turkeys, Coats, and More for Those in Need

As Thanksgiving approaches, local organizations in Philadelphia are stepping up to help those in need. There will be several giveaways this November, including turkeys, coats, and other resources, to spread holiday cheer.

The Friendsgiving Coat Giveaway and Resource Event, set to take place on November 16 at the Gambrel Recreation Center, is one such event. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., FKD invites the community to partake in a free coat distribution for kids, with the stipulation that the children in need be present. Additionally, resource availability is subject to supply.

A week later, on November 23 the Belfield Recreation Center will host a turkey giveaway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., specifically targeting residents of its surrounding community. Providing a turkey for the Thanksgiving table, this event will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and requires participants to show identification. Following close on November 25 is the Basket & Winter Coat Giveaway at McIlvain Playground. Ron Jaworski’s Foundation will provide Thanksgiving dinners on November 26 at Vare Recreation Center. Due to high demand, registration is required by November 22.
