Philadelphia families with children in Extended Day/Extended Year (ED/EY) Schools are in for a treat this winter, as registration opens for a new, free winter camp designed to keep students engaged and entertained during the Winter Break. According to an announcement by the
City of Philadelphia
, this first-time initiative will unfold over five days and accommodate up to 2,000 students in a full-day camp from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Those interested in the Winter Break Camp should reach out to the principals or ED/EY providers at one of the 20 selected schools, running thanks to Mayor Parker’s pilot initiative, the camp is a joint effort by the city and the School District of Philadelphia to provide continuous learning and care, the participating schools have buffed up their programs, offering not just after school care which now almost doubles in capacity to 2,555 seats but also before school care for as many as 1,400 students.
