Phoenix Police Identify Teen Suspect in Fatal Stabbing of 15-Year-Old Jaylen Reeves, No Arrests Made

The horrific death of 15-year-old Jaylen Reeves, who was violently stabbed on November 16, has left the Ahwatukee community grieving as a whole. A teenager who is suspected of being involved in the incident that took place in a park close to 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard has been recognized by the Phoenix Police Department. According to 12News, this discovery follows days of investigation during which police conducted witness interviews, carried out search warrants, and gathered evidence.

Even though the accused attacker has been identified, no arrests have been made by the authorities as of yet. Jaylen died too soon after a fight with an unknown group turned violent when he was hanging out with pals. The neighborhood has been a stronghold of support for the Reeves family as the inquiry progresses and they deal with this loss. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, a temporary monument in the area where Jaylen was attacked is still expanding.

Carla Medina-Reeves, Jaylen’s grandmother, spoke about the tragedy and the extent of their loss. She said, “It’s a wound so deep I feel like it’s a brand on my heart,” to 12News. Family members recalled his lively presence in everyday life and on the football pitch, echoing these sentiments in their views on his life. “When he was on that field, he was on fire,” a family member told FOX 10 Phoenix.

A Meal Train and a GoFundMe campaign were started to help the Reeves family with memorial expenses as part of the community’s demonstration of solidarity. In the meantime, police keep looking into the matter and want anyone with information that might result in an arrest to come forward.
