Pickup Truck Crashes Into Ambulance, Injuring Medic and Leading to DUI Arrest in North Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (DDN) – A medic received minor injuries in a Sunday night incident in North Las Vegas involving a pickup truck that rolled multiple times after colliding with an AMR ambulance.

According to a North Las Vegas spokeswoman, the Jan. 19 incident near Cheyenne Avenue and Clayton Street resulted in minor injuries to three automobiles. Following the crash, the eastbound Toyota Tacoma pickup overturned and collided with a Chevrolet Trax in Cheyenne’s westbound lanes.

The ambulance was traveling northbound on Clayton Street when the collision occurred. According to police, the pickup truck failed to stop at a red light. The ambulance was not carrying any patients at the time.

North Las Vegas police used the incident as an example to warn others about the hazards of drunk driving, publishing a video on Facebook with photographs of the scene. The video appears at the top of this article. “This devastating rollover involved one of our medics, a first responder who dedicates their life to saving others,” according to the Facebook post.

According to police, the Tacoma driver was taken to UMC Trauma with minor injuries and later detained for driving under the influence. The driver’s name wasn’t immediately available.
